Kitchen Appliances and Gadgets

Here are my five essential kitchen appliances and gadgets that I use on a regular basis.

1. NutriBullet Blender

I use my NutriBullet mostly for making post workout and meal replacement shakes and smoothies and to occasionally grind coffee beans. I find it does the job I require (blending frozen fruit into protein shakes) and performs well. I have tried SharkNinja`s Ninja blender and Vitamix and both are great blenders, but I find their extra horsepower and "fancier" blades unnecessary.

2. Instant Pot - 6-in-1 Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Sauté, Steamer, and Warmer

The Instant Pot is my most versatile kitchen appliance. It is an all-in-one pressure cooker, slow cooker, steamer, sauté, and warmer.. The pressure saves a lot of time cooking meats, potatoes, rice, steel cut oats, and more. I use it the most for its slow cooking capabilities. I have had several slow cookers over the years and this makes the best stews. Meat comes out nice and tender and potatoes and carrots and other vegetables are not left overly soft and soggy. It is fairly easy to use and super-easy to clean.

3. Biosnacky Sprouter/Germinator

The Biosnacky Sprouter/Germinator is my sprouter of choice. I make all sorts of sprouts (from Mumm`s seeds). I put them on my salads and occasionally add them to smoothies. Sprouts have a higher nutrient-density compared to adult plants - containing higher levels of vitamins and minerals. You can sprout a lot at a time with this sprouter as it has three tiers/levels - though I usually only have one or two levels going at a time. It is simple to use and easy to clean. After soaking sprouts for several hours just spread out a couple of tablespoons on each level. Put the red siphon cap on and pour filtered or tap water until the cap is submerged. Pour out the water after it flows through the sprouter. Most sprouts take 3-7 days before they are ready to consume.

4. Etekcity Digital Weight Scale

The Etekcity digital food scale is an inexpensive but accurate food scale. I consider this another kitchen essential. When trying to lose fat or pack on muscle it is a good idea to have precise calculations of your food intake. This scale measures by the gram. As a bonus, this one comes with a removeable bowl.

5. ZeroWater Filter

The ZeroWater filter is my favourite water filtration pitcher. As advertised, it is a multi-step filtration system that removes pretty much everything (heavy metals) from your tap water. It leaves your water tasting "light" and pure. It comes with a total dissolved solids, TDS, meter so you can make sure your filter is performing its best. When the meter reading is at "6" it is time to replace the filter. The filters seem to last around 3 weeks. They are a little more expensive and don't last as long as a Brita filter.
